I watch you from across the room,

Quietly, unnoticed.

You’re buried deep in thought,

Reading in your chair,

Turning pages, softly, steadily.

My toes curl,

As I stretch, restlessly,

Watching your brow furrow,

As you concentrate;

History in the palm of your hands.

I shift, silently, slowly –

So not to disturb

Your attention,

As I relax across the couch.

I wonder what you’re thinking.

Do you have debauchery

On your mind?

My hand slides down

Into the front of my panties

Searching

For the treasured pink pearl.

I lick my soft lips,

Still and quiet,

Observing you

As you absorb the ink

From thin pages

Of your hardbound book.

My fingers dance
